HELP my laptop wont turn on

I Have a toshiba satellite a300 and i was playing a game on it and suddently it just turned off. it was doing a lot of things at the same time. running a server, running a game and lots of other things. it dos not have a battery and when i plug in the charger NOTHING happenes. does not even show the plugged in light.
please help

It is quite possible that the solder points on your motherboard that connect the AC outlet to the battery broke. If you are not comfortable taking apart your laptop by yourself, bring it to a computer shop and see what they have to say. The motherboards for some of the Dell, HP and Toshiba Laptops have really poor solder points, and this happens quite often.

It also could be just an overheating problem...let it cool for an hour then try again...

Well usually if it's an overheating problem, the AC LED indicator would still show a power connection. But when the solder points are broken, no power is reaching the indicator.

Not quite true...on most lappies , the overheating circuit CUTS ALL power to everything...including the power/charging light...

Ummm you DID test the charger with a VOLTMETER , by the way ?

tnkx but it turned out that it was neither of your suggestions. it turns out that something to do with the power supply is messed. when i put in the battery it turned on but did not charge and then it shut down cuz the messed up battery lasted about 2 minuets. im not sure but the laptop has never fallen and i have had no problems at all like this before. would you rule out internal laptop damage or just the charger?

This is the problem that I was outlining. If the laptop charging has gone awry, check to see if any pins are bent in the physical charger and charging port. If no pins are bent and the laptop still refuses to charge, usually the DC power cable that connects to the motherboard is to blame. If you still refuse to believe that, then bring it to a computer shop and have them diagnose it.
