I have NAD L 53 DVD receiver.
Player starts having a problem with reading of CDs. Some of them can´t read at all.
The last thing is that CD tray won´t open at all. I´ve tried to blow away dust (opened cabinet) and it helped a while, but then again, it´s not possible to open it. Worth repair?

if the unit out of warranty a new dvd drive (burner) are 17.00 on newegg. if your a dvd player it may be even less. all you need to do is see if the drive inside is ide or sata and it model number. then try and buy a replacment drive that close to the same model (type of drive).

replace the drive belts.

If it was just the drawer then belts would fix the tray problem. Not reading discs indicated a laser problem. Probably worn out. Since this is not a computer drive you cannot just use a generic. You might be able to find a Bluray player cheap enough to replace it but it won't sound as good on CDs.
